Orion Construction delivered the 428,000 sq. ft. Coastal Heights Distribution Centre in Surrey, BC — Skechers’ first Canadian distribution hub. This landmark project features a 36-foot clear-height warehouse, 49 loading docks, 52 overhead doors, and an 8,300 sq. ft. integrated tenant improvement space, which includes offices and warehouse amenities. The facility was designed and constructed to support high-volume logistics while meeting stringent environmental and operational standards.

• Resilient Delivery Amid Adversity: Completed on schedule and under budget despite significant challenges, including BC’s Great Flood, a record-breaking heat dome, and regional crane shortages.
• Innovative Engineering Solutions: Sequenced over 200 insulated concrete tilt-up panels and raised the entire site by one metre to mitigate high water table and hydrological risks — all without impacting schedule.
• Advanced Logistics Integration: Designed for maximum efficiency with high clear heights, optimized dock configurations, and custom warehouse systems to support seamless distribution operations.
• Proactive Risk Mitigation: Swiftly sourced a 500-ton crane from the U.S. to maintain panel lift timelines and executed early procurement planning to navigate supply chain volatility.
• Robust Project Controls: Employed Microsoft Project for schedule management and Sage 300 for financial tracking, coupled with bi-weekly stakeholder meetings and monthly progress reports to maintain transparency and control.
